Queries and Development
Ideate l Critique l Making
8th August -
Even after critiques on my posters saying that my distraction poster is really working and has a strong message and rhetoric I feel like it's not going where I want it to go. Even though I can sort out the ideas my tutors and peers told me I should work with and experiment with I feel in the end it's not going to have moved enough on from my concept as it should have. Whether this is because my concept in the beginning was too developed before it was even a concept or it's a lost cause.

After using the critique comments to develop my work I'm still unsure if it's going the way I want. Not only am I concerned about how far it's developed but I'm not sure about the look of the poster anymore. I don't like it and don't really want to work with it much longer. Being just over a week before it's due I don't think I can do anything about this and will have to work with it.

After the past few days of unsureness I've decided to take the other A3 concept from the interim that was also chosen as strong to develop further. Previously I decided this would be the case but ended up only developing the one so now after having some troubles with the other poster I decided this would be the best decision instead of just sitting here trying to develop things I really don't like or don't think is working. It was pointed out in the interim that it may not fit the brief but having read over the brief I think if worked right it would work. Also it's developed with a distinct Logos pathway which the other poster does not have a clear strategic rhetoric tool. I'm still unsure even with this development if there's too much information for a large poster, I'll have to consult my tutor and peers in class tomorrow.
The brief: "How are you wanting the message to be received? Posters operate in a public space. To be effective, they must be designed so as to grab the audience’s attention from a distance, and be visually arresting so as to entice the viewer into reading complex information that is delivered on a number of levels." I don't think either of mine do this at the moment...
